Spider Web Taco Dip (7-Layer Halloween Dip)

Spider web taco dip

This is the layered taco dip everyone already loves, dressed up for Halloween. Refried beans, seasoned cream cheese, salsa and cheese go in the dish, and a sour cream web is piped on top with a black olive spider sitting in the middle. It looks like work and takes 15 minutes.

Making the sour cream spider web

How to Make Spider Web Taco Dip

  1. Spread the refried beans in an even layer in a 9-inch pie dish or shallow round dish.
  2. Beat the cream cheese with 1/2 cup of the sour cream and the taco seasoning until smooth, then spread it over the beans.
  3. Spoon the drained salsa over the cream cheese layer and sprinkle the cheddar evenly on top.
  4. Put the remaining 1/2 cup sour cream in a small zip-top bag and snip a tiny corner.
  5. Pipe 3 or 4 circles on the cheese, one inside the other. Drag a toothpick from the center to the edge in 8 lines to make the web.
  6. Make a spider from a whole olive for the body and olive slices cut into legs. Chill until serving.

Tips

  • Drain the salsa well or the layers get watery.
  • Pipe the web just before serving so it stays sharp.
  • Add a layer of guacamole under the salsa if you like.

Serving and Storing

Serve cold with sturdy tortilla chips. Covered, it keeps 2 days in the fridge.
