Ingredients

  • 1 3-ounce box flavored gelatin (lime, cherry, or any summer-bright color)
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 1 cup cold vodka (150 proof) or substitute rum/tequila
  • 1/2 cup cold fruit juice (orange, cranberry, lemonade)
  • 1 tbsp granulated sugar (optional, adjust for sweetness)
  • Fresh berries or citrus slices for garnish optional
  • 18-24 plastic shot cups or silicone molds
  • Mini whisk or fork, heatproof bowl, measuring cups

Instructions

  • In a heatproof bowl, pour 1 cup boiling water over the gelatin packet and sugar. Stir briskly for 2 minutes until fully dissolved—no grainy bits.
  • Let the mixture cool about five minutes. Stir in vodka (or your chosen liquor) and cold fruit juice until the liquid is uniform and glistening.
  • Using a ¼-cup measuring cup or a small pitcher, pour the liquid into shot cups. Leave a tiny gap at the top for garnish. Get creative and layer different flavors by chilling between pours.
  • Cover the tray loosely with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or until the gelatin sets with a firm, jiggly texture.
  • Top each cup with a fresh berry, a tiny lime wedge, or a sprinkle of sugar crystals. Serve on a platter with cocktail napkins for instant party flair.

Notes

Choose gelatin made with real fruit extracts for best results. Avoid rushing the chilling process in the freezer to prevent icy shots.
