Ingredients

  • 1 lb thinly sliced roast beef
  • 1 package 12-count Hawaiian sweet rolls
  • 8 slices Swiss cheese
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup melted butter
  • 2 tbsp Dijon mustard
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tbsp poppy seeds
  • 1 tbsp dried minced onions
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder

Instructions

  • Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Prepare the Rolls: Slice the entire package of Hawaiian sweet rolls in half horizontally, keeping the rolls connected. Place the bottom half in a baking dish.
  • Layer the Ingredients: Evenly layer the roast beef over the bottom half of the rolls, followed by the Swiss cheese slices. Place the top half of the rolls over the cheese to close the sandwiches.
  • Make the Sauce: In a mixing bowl, combine the melted butter, mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, poppy seeds, dried minced onions, and garlic powder. Stir well to blend.
  • Dress the Sandwiches: Pour the sauce mixture evenly over the top of the sandwiches, ensuring they are well-coated.
  • Bake: Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the sandwiches are thoroughly heated.
  • Serve: Remove from the oven, slice along the pre-cut lines of the rolls, and serve immediately.

Notes

For a vegetarian option, replace roast beef with grilled portobello mushrooms or tofu. Add jalapeños or hot sauce to the mixture for a spicy twist, or use different cheeses like pepper jack or mozzarella for variety.
