Ingredients

  • 2 oz blanco tequila try Patróm Silver or Jose Cuervo Tradicional
  • 4 oz fresh-squeezed orange juice or high-quality store-bought
  • 1/2 oz grenadine syrup I like POM Wonderful for real pomegranate flavor
  • Ice cubes large cubes chill longer and melt slower
  • Orange wheel or maraschino cherry for garnish

Instructions

  • Fill a highball or Collins glass two-thirds full with ice. Use large cubes to slow dilution.
  • Pour in 4 oz of orange juice, letting it cascade gently over the ice—listen for that soft glug for full flavor integration.
  • Add 2 oz of tequila, aiming your pour against the glass’s inner wall to preserve layers.
  • Slowly drizzle ½ oz grenadine down the side of the glass; watch it sink and spread like a sunrise painting.
  • Wait a few seconds—resist the urge to stir. The magic happens as the grenadine settles at the bottom.
  • Garnish with an orange wheel or maraschino cherry on a wooden skewer. Serve with a straw.

Notes

If you prefer a smoother pour, strain pulp from your orange juice. For a zesty twist, zest a bit of orange peel over the glass before serving.
