Ingredients

  • 2¼ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp fine sea salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, room temperature
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • ¾ cup packed light brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs, room temperature
  • 2 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F. Line two large baking sheets with parchment paper or silicone baking mats.
  • In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt until well combined.
  • In a large bowl or stand mixer, beat the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Add eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla until silky.
  • Gradually add flour mixture to wet ingredients, beating until no streaks of flour remain.
  • Fold in chocolate chips with a spatula for even distribution.
  • Optional but recommended: Chill dough for 15-20 minutes.
  • Drop dough balls on baking sheets and flatten slightly.
  • Bake for 10-12 minutes until edges are golden but centers are slightly underdone.

Notes

Chilling the dough deepens flavor and controls spread. Always measure flour properly for best results.
