Ingredients

  • 3 cups Rice Chex cereal or gluten-free Chex
  • 3 cups Corn Chex cereal
  • 2 cups mixed nuts peanuts, cashews, almonds
  • 2 cups mini pretzels or pretzel rods, broken in half
  • 1 cup bagel chips roughly crushed
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce use vegan Worcestershire for a plant-based mix
  • 1 tsp garlic powder freshly ground if you have it
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/2 tsp freshly cracked black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper optional—boosts the kick

Instructions

  • In a large, microwave-safe bowl, toss Rice Chex, Corn Chex, mixed nuts, pretzels, and bagel chips. Give it a gentle stir so nothing’s hiding at the bottom.
  • In a small bowl, whisk melted butter, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, black pepper, and cayenne. You want a smooth, pourable glaze.
  • Pour the warm seasoning mix over the cereal-nut blend. Use a silicone spatula to fold everything together, making sure each piece gets a light coating.
  • Microwave on HIGH for 60 seconds. Pull the bowl, stir gently to redistribute the glaze. Microwave again for 60 seconds; stir once more. One final 60-second burst helps seal in that crunch.
  • Line a baking sheet or large tray with parchment paper. Spread your mix into an even layer—it’ll crisp as it cools.
  • Let the mix rest at room temperature for 15 minutes. You’ll hear that subtle sizzle as it finishes crisping. Resisting the urge to sample too soon is the hardest part!
  • Transfer to a large serving bowl or DIY snack jars. Watch it disappear at your next gathering—trust me, people come back for seconds.

Notes

Swap in coconut oil for butter to make it dairy-free. Use kosher salt or flaky sea salt if you prefer a lighter finish. Break bagel chips by hand for varied chunk sizes and texture.
