1964 Aston Martin DB5 Restoration in 2020

McGurk Performance Cars was responsible for the restoration of the Lockdown DB5.
• During the lockdown for the year 2020, McGurk Performance Cars is restoring a 1964 Aston Martin DB5.
• The exterior is finished in California Sage, while the interior is black. Work on the restoration began in March 2020 and was finished in the summer of 2021.
• This stunning and extremely rare left-hand drive example of Aston Martin’s most iconic model, the DB5, has gained worldwide recognition as a result of its appearance in the James Bond film series, most recently in the most recent installment, which is titled “No Time To Die.”
• In 1964, the shipment was initially sent to P. H. Folwell of Bronxsville, New York, in the United States of America. In 1987, it made its way to Paris, where it was put to regular use up to the year 2000, when it was sold to an owner in the Netherlands. After then, in 2006, the property was acquired by the Royal Family of Kuwait.
• A detailed history that describes who owned the vehicle and how it was maintained in the years leading up to its complete strip-down to the bare metal repair and rebuild by McGurk Performance Cars.
During the shutdown in 2020, Aston Martin specialists at McGurk Performance Cars completed a comprehensive restoration of a 1964 Aston Martin DB5 down to the bare metal. John McGurk, owner of McGurk Performance Cars, purchased the vehicle in March 2020 with the intention of performing a simple restoration on it; but, due to the fact that lockdown meant that nobody could travel to look at it, the project evolved into a complete restoration down to the bare metal.
“You could say that we’ve used lockdown productively,” says McGurk, who personally handled the restoration and is therefore somewhat hesitant to put it up for sale. “You could say that we’ve used lockdown effectively,” “I’m hugely proud of what my team here has achieved with this beautiful DB5, any restoration is a challenge, but to return a car to such immaculate condition while the rest of the world stopped turning is a testament to the dedication and passion of all of those involved. I’m hugely proud of what they’ve done.”
